Lionel Richie, 77, Gets Dizzy & Shuts Down Minnesota Concert

Lionel Richie’s opening night in Minnesota just went off the rails. The 77-year-old legend hit the stage feeling under the weather and literally had to sit down mid-performance because he was getting dizzy. Real classy way to kick off a tour, right?

During the show, Richie leveled with the crowd about what was happening. “When you’re feeling dizzy, sit your ass down,” he told fans—and then he actually did exactly that. Because apparently that’s the move when your body’s not cooperating and you’re live in front of thousands of people.

The whole thing got awkward fast. An opening night concert is supposed to be this big celebratory moment, and instead the Commodores frontman had to pump the brakes and cut the show short. No word yet on whether he’s dealing with a stomach bug, dehydration, or just the reality of being 77 and touring.

Richie didn’t make a huge production out of it though—he kept it real with the crowd, cracked a joke about sitting down, and apparently called it a night. That’s one way to remember your Minnesota concert experience.
