Jason Alexander just issued a major apology to Courtney Stodden over a 2012 comedy sketch that’s come back to haunt him — and here’s the kicker: Stodden was still a minor when it was filmed.
The “Seinfeld” icon reached out to TMZ with a statement acknowledging the controversial bit. “Looking back at the comedy sketch in which Ms. Stodden appeared, I deeply regret my participation,” Alexander said. “It was inappropriate, and I sincerely apologize to her.”
Stodden publicly called him out recently, bringing the old sketch back into the spotlight over a decade later. The whole thing reignited conversations about how the former reality TV star was treated in the industry as a young person — and honestly, Alexander’s not the first celebrity she’s had issues with over past behavior.
The apology marks a shift for Alexander, who’s typically kept a low profile. But when someone decides to speak up about their past experience, even years later, sometimes that’s all it takes for people to reckon with their actions.
