Robert Pattinson was noticeably absent from the biggest celebrity wedding of the summer, and the Twilight star just revealed exactly why he couldn’t make Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s star-studded ceremony at Madison Square Garden on July 3.

According to Pattinson, he was already committed to filming overseas when the couple tied the knot in front of A-list guests. “I was in the middle of production in Berlin,” he explained. “Obviously I would’ve loved to be there—I mean, it’s Taylor and Travis. But I couldn’t get out of my contractual obligations.” Ouch.

The actor added that he sent his well-wishes to the newlyweds privately. “I texted them both before the ceremony,” Pattinson said. “They were cool about it. They knew what was going on.” So no bad blood, thankfully.
