Clippers Doubling Down: Kawhi Leonard Is The Plan

Lawrence Frank just put the rest of the league on notice. The Clippers president of basketball operations made it crystal clear at his end-of-season presser Friday: Kawhi Leonard isn’t going anywhere, and LA is building around him long-term. No wishy-washy \”we’ll see what happens\” talk. Just commitment.

This matters because the Clippers have been through the injury wringer with Kawhi. Availability has been the biggest question mark in LA since he arrived. But Frank’s message is unmistakable — the front office believes in Kawhi’s ability to lead a championship team when healthy, and they’re betting the farm on it.

The Clippers have the pieces. Ivica Zubac in the middle. Role players who can space the floor and defend. But it all hinges on Kawhi staying on the court. If he does, LA’s got a legitimate path back to the Finals. If he doesn’t, it’s another lottery season waiting for him to return.

Frank’s public pledge means the Clippers aren’t panicking, aren’t blowing it up, and aren’t shopping their star. They believe. Now Kawhi needs to stay healthy enough to prove them right.
