Helena Bonham Carter is out. Like, already out. The eccentric British actress has exited ‘The White Lotus’ season four just days into filming, and apparently things got weird fast between her and creator Mike White.

An HBO spokesperson confirmed the departure in a statement, revealing that the character White specifically created for Bonham Carter simply didn’t work once they got on set. “With filming just underway on season four of ‘The White Lotus,’ it had become apparent that the character which Mike White created for Helena Bonham Carter did not align once on set,” the rep said.

No word yet on what exactly went down or whether there’s bad blood, but a character so specifically tailored to an A-list actress that it implodes within days? That’s a pretty epic fail. Bonham Carter has a history of choosing wonderfully weird, unconventional roles—so if even she thought this character wasn’t working, Mike White might have missed the mark on this one.
